We can, however, introduce knowledge and encourage communication so that our children feel comfortable enough to disclose their secrets, whether they are good or bad. When children are encouraged to communicate, they will, in turn, develop the appropriate skills necessary for them to be active participants in maintaining their own safety.

MY BROTHER IS AUTISTIC

This book tells the story of a boy whose brother has autism. When he becomes embarrassed by his brother’s behavior in front of friends, he asks his teacher to explain autism to the class. With the teacher’s help, the children learn about people who were able to overcome the challenges of autism and go on to do important things.
